The American Wine School: Founded by Marianne Frantz in 2002 offers a systematic approach to understanding wine. Whether you know a little or a lot about wine, the American Wine School can help you build your wine knowledge through a wide range of consumer classes, tutored tastings and special events. For the more serious wine student, the American Wine School offers an internationally recognized program of study through its affiliation with the prestigious Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET). Guest lecturers at the school include noted wine makers, wine writers, visiting Masters of Wine and Master Sommeliers. |
Marianne Frantz: Certified Wine Educator, holds a Diploma in Wine & Spirits from the Wine & Spirit Education Trust of London and has also earned the Advanced Sommelier qualification from the Court of Master Sommeliers. Marianne is currently a candidate for both Master of Wine and Master Sommelier. In addition to teaching, Marianne has produced culinary events across the U.S. and France with the world's top chefs and wine makers. |

Cheryl Alagna, Master of Whiskey Ohio/Detroit Cheryl Alagna has over 20 years experience in the wine and spirits world as a Sommelier and former corporate trainer for a large Mid-west restaurant group. Over the years she worked as a Diageo Reserve Brand Ambassador where she developed her passion for whisky. As a Master of Whisky, Cheryl most enjoys meeting new people, introducing them to whisky and all its intricacies, and then watching their expressions as they begin to develop their own relationship with the spirit. Cheryl says her sincere hope is, “to help others acquire their own understanding and personal appreciation for whisky. When not igniting passion for whisky in others, Cheryl enjoys spending time with her family and friends. In addition to being a Master of Whisky, the outdoor enthusiast enjoys her classic car, and traveling. Cheryl will be in the Tasting Theatre on Friday and Saturday. The theatre seats 100, and will require ONE tasting ticket. The presentation will be 30 mins and include 4 samples of whiskey. |
