Hayden Wood, aka 'Woody', is the leading authority on flair, bartending and mixed drinks in

Australia. He has lived in Sydney since 1995.

 

 

Mixing drinks since he was a kid, Woody has always taken a light hearted approach to his

career. With an expanse of inspirational knowledge gained from over 15 years in the business,

he is an entertainer, an educator and author of what is now regarded as the benchmark for

cocktail and mixed drinks books.

 

 

Woody has won numerous flair and bartending awards culminating in the title of World Flair

Bartending Champion in 1996/97. He has presented over 600 workshops to more than 20,000

bartenders and industry people worldwide and from 1998-2000 he toured Italy three times

teaching over 5000 students his craft. He also runs regular workshops for hospitality students and

industry professionals throughout Australia and New Zealand.

 

 

Woody has displayed his talent at many trade and public shows with his dynamic and

theatrical performances energizing his audiences to rock concert levels.

 

 

Woody’s books have won some fabulous publishing awards including the World Food Media

Awards Best Drinks Photography, The Gourmand World Media Awards for Best Book on Sprits in

the World - two times 2003/2005, and Best Drinks Book in the World 2004. Woody travelled to KL

in May of 2006 for the Gourmand World Media Awards where Woody’s Liquid Kitchen won the

award for Best Book on Spirits in the World for the third time!

 

 

“I felt that there weren't any drinks books out there that were character driven. Most drink

books are simply a list of classic drink recipes. I wanted to produce a book that used some of

the classic cocktails but including some new, innovative drinks.”

 

 

The idea behind Woody’s Liquid Kitchen book is that it keeps it simple and easy, more hands on

- just like a cookbook. You can learn how to mix your own syrups, liqueurs and of course,

delicious cocktails.

drinks with food, rather than just drinking the obligatory bottle of wine and a couple of beers.
